The Skateholders project shows how even a small intervention can transform public space and expand its potential uses. Repairing the edge of a wall, adding railings to stairs, and adding benches along the path are minimalist interventions that not only visually enhance the space but also encourage users to use it in creative ways.
Thanks to the expansion, the place where people used to just ride now offers much more. New elements have been added—a basketball hoop, a punching bag, a swing, a large wooden stage, and new skate obstacles.
The project was created as part of the city's bid for the title of European Capital of Culture 2028. Architectural and artistic interventions have created a space for both urban sports and the wider public.
